MARCH 26, 2005 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT OLYMPIC COLLEGE

East Bremerton B and C String won.  AA and A Strings lost close games.

 

 

NOVEMBER 24-26, 2005 HOLIDAY GRIDIRON CLASSIC AT AUBURN MEMORIAL STADIUM

The A String Kitsap Peninsula Champion East Bremerton Eagles took their show on the road this Thanksgiving weekend and played in the 3rd Annual Auburn Memorial Stadium Gridiron Classic Football Tournament.  East Bremerton (Average of 13 years 6 months with an average weight of 150 without pads as of September 1, 2005) was matched up with the Seattle West Athletic Club (SWAC) Cougars from West Seattle, the Central District Panthers also from Seattle and the Parkland Raiders from Tacoma.  The four team “Rainier Division” bracket was played off over a period of three days.

East Bremerton played the SWAC Cougars on Thursday, Nov. 24th and won 46-0 propelling them into the championship game with the Parkland Raiders.  Tyler Rymer intercepted 3 passes returning 2 of them for touchdowns of 52 and 55 yards.  On offense, he rushed for 167 yards on 5 carries while scoring on runs of 52 and 60 yards.  Howard McDonald rushed for 169 yards on 11 carries while adding 2 more touchdowns of 32 and 1 yard.  Shawn Glover rushed for 49 yards on 7 carries and Christopher Groat rushed for 20 yards on 4 carries and was 5 for 6 on extra point attempts while leading the defense with 6 tackles.  Brett McDonald was 3 for 5 passing for 43 yards.

On Saturday, Nov. 26th, East Bremerton played for the Rainier Division Championship defeating the Parkland Raiders 40-0.  Brett McDonald was 5 of 8 passing for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns of 7 yards to Danny Johnston, 25 yards to Christopher Groat and 30 yards to Tyler Rymer who also carried 4 times for 37 yards.  Howard McDonald rushed for 129 yards on 11 carries while scoring on a 15 yard td run.  Shawn Glover rushed for 43 yards on 7 carries with an 8 yard touchdown run.  Tyler Rymer led the defense with 6 tackles.

Team members not mentioned above, but who were a big part of the team’s victories were Sean Stillwell with 3 tackles and a fumble recovery, Connor Roberts with 2 touchdown saving tackles, Samuel Glover with 7 tackles and a huge QB sack-and-fumble recovery, Eric Pitts with 5 tackles, Mark Noll with 3 tackles while proving that he is the team’s blocking specialist on offense, Ben Flores with 5 tackles while adding run block support, Perry Huff who lead an offensive line flawlessly from his center position, and Brandon Woods who had 2 monster tackles from his nose guard spot.  East Bremerton finishes their season 11-0.  Rob Robinson is the head coach for the Eagles.

East Bremerton took home the A Division Kitsap Peninsula Pee Wee Championship on Saturday at Bremerton High's Memorial Stadium.  East Bremerton cruised past Silverdale 50-6.  East Bremerton finished an undefeated season and earned its second title in a row.  The Eagles (9-0) won the B Division title last season.

Brett McDonald passed for 178 yards on 8 of 11 passing with 2 Touchdown passes of 13 and 42 yards.  Brett also added a 5 yard run of his own late in the 3rd quarter.  Older brother, Howard McDonald ran for 174 yards on 17 carries and had 2 receptions for 31 yards along with his 2 touchdown runs of 7 and 8 yards.  Shawn Glover rushed for 37 yards on 6 carries along with the sweet touchdown catch for 42 yards and Chris Groat had 10 yards on 2 carries and 32 yards on 2 receptions with a touchdown catch on a Michael Vick like sweep left pass from Howard McDonald for 7 yards.  Tyler Rymer had 38 yards on 7 carries with a touchdown run of 4 yards and 2 receptions for 31 yards with a touchdown catch of 13 yards.  Daniel Johnston had 2 catches for 50 yards and an interception to seal the game.

Samuel Glover led the Offensive Line not to mention the defense with his 5 yard sack of QB Preston Nelson and 3 other tackles on defense.  Connor Roberts had a touchdown saving tackle early on which set the tone.  Additionally, Howard McDonald had 4 tackles, Brett McDonald had 4, and Tyler Rymer had 4.  Chris Groat added 2, Ben Flores added 2, Shawn Glover added 2, Shawn Stillwell added 1, and Kyle Meade added 1.  Let us not forget one of the best offensive lineman and defensive lineman in Kitsap Peninsula Pee Wees who was sidelined by a broken collar bone...  The awesome Ardie Fesuluai.  This was definitely a team effort as the tackles and passes were caught by many.  Nice job guys!!!
